Tender Graves
This project is based on Nandita’s experiences with Alzheimer’s and dementia. The loss and rediscovery of personality, memories, and especially grief are things that dementia patients experience over and over again. And sometimes, a person needs to know when they need to let go of the person they remember. Tender Graves looks into the care of people with late-stage Alzheimer’s and dementia. How do you help with the loss of memory and understanding? How do you tell someone their family members are long dead when they remember them being there?
Nandita Venkat is an XR engineer with an MS in Extended Reality from Northeastern University and a BFA in Digital Media and Design from UConn.
She builds spatial applications for Apple Vision Pro in Swift and Metal, and her senior project, Tender Graves, grew from an interest in Alzheimer’s and how families can manage its symptoms with familiar media.
Sound design Test
To emphasis the theme of music, I had a pianist record sound effects for each character action and try and match it to the keys of the backing tracks.
